If you become injured or ill and are hospitalized, your health insurance will pay a portion of your costs. But no plan pays for everything. Your share of the hospital bill with coinsurance, copays and deductibles could be costly—let alone the extra out-of-pocket expenses that might occur.

With Group Hospital Indemnity Insurance, you receive cash benefits for covered hospital stays and expenses to help offset the hospital bill, take care of day-to-day expenses, or pay for anything you need. Plus, this insurance offers these advantages:

  • Pays a daily benefit amount of $100/day/hospital stay. Pays this lump sum cash benefit directly to you and is paid in addition to your medical insurance. Additional benefits include: Hospital Admission, Hospital Confinement, and Hospital Intensive Care.
  • Affordable employee discounted group rate. Biweekly group rates are: Employee $6.04, employee + spouse: $11.79, Employee + Children: $8.45, and Family coverage: $14.20. Biweekly group rates are for Massachusetts employees are: Employee $5.02, employee + spouse: $9.87, Employee + Children: $7.11, and Family coverage: $11.96. Your premium is conveniently deducted from your paycheck.
  • Guaranteed–issue provided you enroll during the Enrollment Period.  
  • Flexibility to use the benefit money to address out-of-pocket-expenses like transportation and meals for family members, help with child care, or time away from work.
  • Ability to keep your coverage if you leave your employer (with certain stipulations)

  • Who is the provider?

  • How can this help me?

    This plan pays a daily benefit if you have a covered stay in a hospital, Remover critical care unit or rehabilitation facility. The benefit amount is determined based on the number of days you stay. This coverage is a limited benefit plan. It is not health insurance and does not satisfy the requirement of minimum essential coverage under the Affordable Care Act.

  • When can I enroll?

    As a new hire, you can enroll during your new hire enrollment period. Outside of your new hire enrollment period, enrollment is limited to the company’s annual enrollment period.
  • How much will this coverage cost?

  • What if my employment status changes?

    When you leave or retire from your current employer, you can continue your coverage without interruption, subject to applicable law and the plans terms and conditions. Although payroll deduction will no longer be available, you can opt for other payment methods such as direct bank account deduction, credit card billing or home billing. Higher rates may apply.
